CONTROL STRIP, REAGENT SUITABILITY
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a quality control reagent test strip with positive and negative controls to determine the suitability of six reagents. Shall be suitable for use with an Enterobacteriaceae Differentiation Test Kit (i.e.: Analytab API 20E).
Shall be used with the following reagents (see Notes):
(6% Alpha-Napthol reagent)
(N, N-Dimethyl-a-Naphthylamine reagent)
(Sulphanilic acid reagent)
(Potassium hydroxide reagent)
(Ferric chloride solution)
(Kovacs’ reagent)
Shall be suitable for performing the following four biochemical tests:
1. Trytophane deaminase (TDA). To check the ferric chloride solution.
2. Indole (IND). To check the Kovacs’ reagent.
3. Nitrate reduction (NIT). To check the N, N-Dimethyl-a-Napthylamine and Sulphanilic acid reagents.
4. Voges-Proskauer (VP). To check the Alpha-Naphtol and Potassium hydroxide solutions.
Shall consists of eight microtubes containing dehydrated media that shall be reconstructed by adding a bacterial suspension. Four of the microtubes shall serve as positive controls for biochemical test, and the other four shall serve as negative controls for the biochemical tests.
